According to Goodreads I’ve read 31 books last year. Considering the fact that I published 720 Heartbeats in 2018 (and put a lot of time and energy into promotion) and started writing a new novel (androids!), I find it quite an achievement.

So without further ado, let’s focus on the books that impressed me the most.

1. Sea of Rust – C. Robert Cargill

On Twitter I named this book the best book I’ve read in the last decade. It’s just perfect. I love people (not all of them), but the fact there are no humans in the book (since they’re extinct) makes this book special. A real-page turner and a must-read for all fans of robots and AI.

2. The Fourth Monkey – J.D. Barker

An excellent thriller. A beginning of a series that deserves to become a worldwide hit.

3. All Systems Red (The Murderbot Diaries #1) – Martha Wells

I first read this book in 2017 but I re-read it last year. You just have to love Murderbot. He is one of the best characters ever.

4. On Writing – Stephen King

Part memoir, part tutorial by one of the greaters writers of all time.

5. Only Human (Themis Files #3) – Sylvain Neuvel

The end ( or is it?) of a great SF series. Giant robots from outer space. What more can a man wish for.

There are more great books that didn’t make it into top 5 but that’s life. So here are all my books of 2018. Maybe you’ll find something special for yourself.
